NC Architects were delighted to be invited to compete for the refurbishment of the existing Brunel Centre in Swindon.

The brief was simple, externally propose a design that is cost effective, easy to maintain and fully removable when tenants required first floor advertising space and internally again cost effective but bright and playful with colour to bring life into the space.

Bill Pier headed up the design team with newly appointed trainee architect Maria Marampea as lead designer, a good combination of practicality and flamboyance.

The design process as always went through many iterations and we were pleased to be able to propose not one but three different solutions to the client for consideration as one of only 3 shortlisted Practices.

After submission, it wasn’t a long wait to find out that the client and his team loved our proposals and we had won the competition.

We worked closely with the client to develop the design but unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances the project has been put on hold.
