Conceived after the Bath and West Agricultural Show was held at Swindon in late 1957 Blunsdon House Hotel has steadily developed as a four star hotel and leisure club.
NC Architects have undertaken many of their more recent phases of development including recently a new £3 million 48 bedroom facility known as ‘The Pavilion’. Energy efficiency has been an integral part of the building design, extremely deep overhanging eaves and hanging balconies provide effective control of solar heat gain and glare. Highly insulated building fabric incorporating dense concrete floors and thick Cotswold stone walls provide naturally stable internal temperatures and good soundproofing between rooms. Public areas and circulation spaces are naturally ventilated with high level automatically controlled opening windows.
