Development company
invited NC Architects to make proposals for this £250K scheme in 2001.
Built as a marketing center for The Haydon Development Sector, the brief
was to provide a display and conference room and associated facilities.
As a short life building an important part of the brief was to design
a structure which could also be used for community facilities, extending
its life beyond a marketing suite. The brief was then extended further
by the architects which resulted in a demountable building which could
be easily relocated. The basic structure is timber framed on pad foundations
with a floating floor which was necessary due to the poor ground conditions,
ventilation of the building is natural. The roof is aluminum standing
seem on a glulam frame and uses recycled paper insulation. The scheme
has proved to be successful and the firm have been approached to design
further centers.
