Site of a contaminated
derelict chicken farm the development was commissioned by McLean Homes
South Midlands for 50 domestic dwellings.
The scheme is made up of houses of various sizes and includes 15 affordable
houses together with a mix of 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 bedroom homes.
The site is extremely rural and its size and scale were problematic to
the village and the local authority. The scheme had been taken to appeal
and lost, NC Architects brief was to obtain approval.
We commenced by having a meeting with the parish council and following
this looked at the existing village with the aim of reflecting the features
and fabric found among the houses. The new scheme sought to pick up on
the cranked houses, grass verges, twisty lanes and open spaces along sides
the roads, approval was granted within six months.
